Pipa Croci True I Smooth Brandy Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Pipa Croci was founded by Italian artisans Paolo Croci and Gianni Croci in 1983, and in the decades that followed, the two would make a name for themselves (quite literally) owing to the high-quality, handmade pipes that emerged from their workshop in Lombardy. As Pipa Croci is a thoroughly artisanal enterprise, each pipe is unique, with some being more traditional, and others being more modern. I think I’d put this particular pipe in the latter category, for example, as while it isn’t wholly divorced from classical aesthetics, it is, nonetheless, very distinctive. One could consider it a slightly freeform hybrid of the brandy and the opera, having as it does a strikingly bulbous, yet also quite narrow bowl, with a strong emphasis on the briar’s natural straight grain patterning. This pipe is completely unsmoked.
